We’re thrilled to unveil Codee 2024.2. This release represents a significant leap forward for our static code analyzer, empowering Fortran, C and C++ developers to deliver high-quality modern performant software that complies with industry standards.

In this release, we’ve dedicated significant efforts to bolster Fortran support, with a particular focus on modernizing existing codebases. Modernizing Fortran code not only unlocks access to the latest features of the language standard but also enhances maintainability, readability, portability, extensibility, and performance. The systematic, predictable workflow provided by Codee is a complement to the vendor’s software development ecosystem, including the compilers and performance tools, such as profilers and monitoring tools.
What’s new?
- New Technical Debt Report
(codee technical-debt):This report quantifies the technical debt associated with the modernization of legacy code by assessing the extent of refactoring required for language constructs. The score is determined based on the number of language constructs necessitating refactoring to bring the source code up to modern standards. Additionally, the metric identifies the impacted source code segments, detailing affected files, functions, and loops. - New ROI Report (
codee roi): This analysis underscores the tangible benefits Codee brings to the development process, not only in terms of savings in development effort but also in realizing significant cost efficiencies for the organization. - New Compiler Efficiency Report (
codee compiler-efficiency): This report get insights about the actual optimizations carried out by the compiler for a given project, as well as the impact of fine-tuning the compiler flags on the overall performance. - Improved code coverage, for both C and Fortran codes: Codee now analyzes loops that were not analyzable before, thanks to several improvements in the Codee core technology.
- Fortran analysis is now enabled on Windows and MacOS packages of Codee.
- Added support for ARM “big.LITTLE” architecture flags.
- Improved support for C++ member functions.
- Improved support for the IAR iccarm compiler.
- Improved support for projects that make use of precompiled headers.
