Last week, our team arrived from Frankfurt, where ISC High Performance 2017 was held. It was our second time there and it left a great impression on us.
The conference drew more than 3.200 registered attendees from 60 countries and 148 companies with a featured technical program spanning five days. ISC High Performance focused on HPC technological development and its application in scientific fields, as well as its adoption in commercial environments. The conference offered different HPC topics grouped under three categories: systems, applications, and emerging topics.
On the 20th, Manuel Arenaz demonstrated our product at the Third OpenACC User Group Meeting, where we discussed training, provided feedback on the specification and shared experiences and best practices.
On the 22th, along with Oscar Fernandez (ORNL) and Dirk Pleiter (JSC), Manuel Arenaz presented the paper entitled The Technological Roadmap and its Alignment with the OpenPOWER Ecosystem in the Second International Workshop on OpenPOWER for HPC (IWOPH’17) and he also participated in the IWOPH’17 Panel discussion.
We have also attended interesting activities from other organizations such as Women in HPC, we have visited the booths of Cray, Fujitsu, Dell EMC, NVIDIA, Supermicro, IBM etc. to have interviews with some of them. Regarding the Top500 Announcement, we want to highlight the huge leap up the list to #13 for MareNostrum 4 of Barcelona Supercomputing Center, which has been called ‘the most diverse and interesting in the world’ by international experts.
It was a non-stop activity lasting for 4 days, and we were delighted to take part. We felt very comfortable with the careful attention from the organizers. The speakers and organizers always offer to help you and to introduce you to contacts in the sector.
We know for sure that we will return to ISC 2018 next year to learn even more. Now, It’s time to continue working harder and prepare for SC17 in Denver!
